If you have children, toddlers to be specific, than you know that traveling with a toddler or toddlers, is not very fun. I have a toddler and whenever we get into the car, he is excited to go somewhere at first, but soon gets terribly bored and starts whining. The whining turns into crying and then everyone traveling in the car with him, gets anxiety! Me especially!   I had to come up with ways to keep my toddler busy, while traveling. It was definitely a hit and miss for a while, but finally, I have come up with 5 ways to keep toddlers entertained while traveling. So far, it has worked with my toddler, like a charm!

1. Make sure there are snacks readily available! Whether it is a no-spill snack container, with soft things, so baby does not choke or a little plastic cup to hold the snacks, finger foods make traveling with a toddler, more bearable! I find that my toddler gets bored in the car, so snacking makes him less fussy as it keeps his hands and mouth busy!

2. Sippy Cup with diluted juice/water/milk. Make sure the sippy cup is again, within reach of your toddler, (like a cup holder on their car seat). Toddlers like to not  only snack in the car, but they like their drinks close by too!

3. Softs Toys and Books! They make little boxes or nets that actually attach to your toddler's car seat, to store toys in. I love using those! They are so handy for keeping some of your toddler's most favorite toys in. That way, when baby gets bored with snacking and drinking he can then move on to his special toys. I say choose soft toys and books because you don't want to end up with a toddler screaming in the back seat, when  you are driving, because he accidentally hit himself with a toy/book. Trust me, it happens…

4.  Blanket or Lovey. These are a must for my toddler. He not only loves his toys nearby, but when he gets sleepy,  he loves his blanket nearby him too. It helps comfort him to sleep, when Mom is busy driving!

5.  Sillly and fun music! My toddler loves listening to music, but loves it even more when I turn on music that is more kid-friendly. He loves hearing music that has silly noises/sounds and hilarious lyrics. When all else has failed, I turn on the fun music and this almost always calms my toddler down and relaxes him allowing him to have a little fun!

These are things I try to always have with us, when we go places. Even to the store for some grocery shopping. Nothing beats a content toddler when you are traveling!   If you have a toddler or young child, what things do you bring in the car with you, to help make traveling more enjoyable for you both?
