Automotive Controller

The Controller provides sales and expense analyses for all department, fairly represents the financial condition of the dealership, develops controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, and maintains accurate records

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee or perform tasks to ensure that financial functions are reconciled monthly including: cash, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payables, manufacturer statements, payroll, vehicle deal commissioning, and inter-company accounts.
  • Meet all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines including: monthly reconciliations, complete financian statement to manfacturer, monthly dashboard and quarterly reporting, financial analysis, year-end reporting
  • Be heavily involved in integration process with the accounting departments for new dealerships to ensure compliance with Chief Controller accounting policies, controls, reporting timelines and procedures.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach an accounting team, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing of work, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Assist with hiring, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action plans to associates when necessary.
  • Assist with the training process and ongoing development of assigned team to ensure understanding and compliance with the accounting DMS, accounting policies, controls, reporting timelines, and procedures.
  • Attend and present relevant content and information at group and leadership meetings. Promote professional development within a team environment ensuring associates are held accountable.
  • Celebrate team successes and cultivate a positive culture of excellence.
  • Review and monitor dealership compliance with accounting policies, procedures and controls, to ensure consistency among all dealerships.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises office personnel.
  • Close month by processing accounting month-end and closing ADP every month.
  • Prepare tax reports and tax returns in a timely and accurate matter.
  • Paperwork new hires and terminations
  • Maintain confidential employee files

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of Dealership Office Manager/Controller experience
  • CDK experience is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of dealership financial statements
  • Ability to explain technical financial information in an understandable manner
  • Excellent communication skills
