The Journey is Dodge's entry in the midsize sedan segment. Changes for the 2014 Dodge Avenger are minimal, being limited to the Blacktop and Rallye packages being available on the SE model.

'14 Dodge Avenger Design

To match its tough-guy name, the 2014 Avenger has a sort of tough-guy look. Dodge's familiar cross-hair grille sits between big headlights, along the sides are pronounced fender arches, and at the rear is a rise in the fender line that leads to big taillights to match the theme from the front. The 2014 Dodge Avenger's interior is more than merely competitive with those of other mid-size sedans, with an attractive layout, quality materials, comfortable and supportive front seats with proper bolsters, pleasing fabric patterns, and numerous soft-touch panels. The prevailing impression inside the Dodge Avenger is driven by its to-the-point layout and easy, comfortable space. It's not particularly exciting, but neither is it annoying, frustrating, or inconvenient, as are many cars with interiors and controls that try to do too much or be cool.

Power and Handling of the Avenger

The front-drive Dodge Avenger sedan is available in three trim levels, with four- and six-cylinder engines and two different automatic transmissions. Avenger's standard 2.4-liter, 173-horspepower four-cylinder is EPA-rated at 20/31 mpg City/Highway with the 6-speed automatic transmission. The optional 3.6-liter overhead cam V6 is used in a variety of Chrysler vehicles. The company claims it is both the least expensive and most powerful V6 in the mid-size class. There's very little body roll or undulation, better isolation of road shock, better steering precision and increased grip, thanks to wider tires. The R/T is definitely more firmly sprung than the other Avengers are, but there isn't a serious degradation in ride quality. Brakes might be the weakest point in the dynamic package of the Avenger. 

Conclusions
