2018 Dodge Grand Caravan vs 2018 Toyota Sienna near Chicago, IL

There are many reasons that you look into buying a minivan, but the number one reason is to have plenty of room for your family and all of your cargo. That just leads to the next question: Which minivan best suits those needs? We are here to help you figure out the best minivan, and to start we are going to discuss the 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan and the 2018 Toyota Sienna. Both of these vehicles are at the top of the segment, offering seating, power, and the always important entertainment factor. The Dodge Grand Caravan has been a constant in the Dodge lineup, is unchanged for the 2018 model year. As a minivan that is that popular and that consistent, that isn't shocking. The Toyota Sienna only receives a few updates, including a revised front-end, and a Safety Sense package on every trim level. Both of these minivans are off to the races, but which one will win? Continue reading to learn more about what it takes to be the best minivan on the road today.

2018 Dodge Grand Caravan Power & Handling

The Dodge Grand Caravan is a powerful minivan that is up to the task, no matter the adventure your family is about to go on! The standard engine that helps you drop your kids off at school is a 3.6-liter V6, which has the ability to produce 260 pound-feet of torque and 283 horsepower. The transmission that is paired with the V6 engine is a six-speed automatic transmission. This transmission allows for the Grand Caravan to smoothly shift without any of the annoying 'hunting' that some transmissions give you. There is also another perk of the Grand Caravan, you can use both gasoline and E85. If you use E85 then you'll be getting gas mileage of around 12/18 mpg. If you choose gasoline, then the fuel economy is around 17/25 mpg.

2018 Toyota Sienna Power & Handling

The engine that powers the 2018 Toyota Sienna is a 3.5-liter V6, which creates 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. You can find this engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the option to choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive is standard and with the exception of the base trim and the SE trim. There is no E85 option to feed the engine, instead, there is only gasoline. If you choose FWD then you'll be getting 19/27 mpg, and with AWD you'll get 18/24 mpg. The lack of another fuel source shows the lack of flexibility with the 2018 Toyota Sienna.

2018 Dodge Grand Caravan Features & Design

There are many more reasons to love the 2018 Grand Caravan. One of the major reasons is the 4 trim levels that you get to choose from! These trims include SE, SE Plus, SXT, and GT. The base trim, called SE, comes standard with a CD player, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, a 6.5-inch touchscreen display, heated mirrors, a 2nd-row bench seat, tri-zone climate control, full power accessories, a 6-speaker audio system, cruise control, remote locking and unlocking, and a conversation mirror. You can also get the Uconnect Hands-Free Group package that adds Bluetooth, a leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a satellite radio. Another option is the SXT, which comes with a power liftgate, an 8-way power driver seat, roof rails, chrome exterior trim, leather upholstery with suede inserts, a larger floor console, and power-sliding rear doors. You can also choose two packages, the Driver Convenience Group package, and the Blacktop package. The highest trim, the GT, adds heated second-row seats, a performance-tuned suspension, voice controls, black interior accents, a driver information center, and a body-colored grille.

2018 Toyota Sienna Features & Design

The 2018 Sienna has five trim level options. The first option you can choose is the Sienna L. You'll get features like a wiper de-icer, smartphone-app navigation, a seven-inch touchscreen, an auxiliary audio jack, a conversation mirror, tri-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, five USB ports, a rearview camera, automatic headlights, a 6-speaker sound system, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Another trim option, the SE, comes with a noise-reducing windshield, a sport-tuned suspension, first- and second-row leather upholstery, a unique front fascia, a noise-reducing windshield, sharper steering, a power liftgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, and heated front seats. The Limited trim adds driver-seat memory settings, an in-dash navigation system, front and rear sunroofs, front and rear parking sensors, a heated steering wheel, LED daytime running, an upgraded ten-speaker JBL surround-sound audio system, and noise-reducing side glass.

While both of these minivans are impressive, we think it's apparent that the 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan is the winner. This vehicle gives you power, flexibility, and all of the additional space and entertainment that you need to keep everyone happy.
