The 2017 RAM 1500 returns with many new features to each trim. The base trim, Rebel, adds a long list of new things. It now comes with a Uconnect 8.4 media hub, automatic dual-zone temperature control, anti-spin differential, a security alarm, a remote start, a premium gauge cluster, a rear backup camera, and rear park assist. The other trims have changes to the line-up. The 1500 Sport gets new standard features like a security alarm and a remote start. Under the 1500's Hood
All the models come standard with a 3.6-liter gas V6 engine. It can generate 269 pound-feet of torque and 305 horsepower. Another engine option for the Sport, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited is the 5.7-liter V8. It generates 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The engine standard on the HFE and optional for all other trucks, except the Express, Sport, and Rebel, is the EcoDiesel engine. It is a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine that generates 420 pound-feet of torque and 240 horsepower. All the engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rotary knob instead of the traditional shift lever. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but there are two four-wheel drive systems. The first 4WD system comes as a traditional part-time system with manual mode selection and the second comes with an auto 4WD mode that automatically switches between rear- and four-wheel drive.

The 1500 can have so many different configurations. There is the regular cab, quad cab, and crew cab. The bed sizes stretch from 5-foot-7 up to 8-foot cargo bed. The trim models are the Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. The base model comes standard with 17-inch wheels, black bumpers/grille/door handles, automatic headlights, a seven-pin wiring harness, a locking tailgate, a rear backlight, a spray-in bed liner, air-conditioning, vinyl upholstery, cruise control, and a six-speaker sound system. These are just starting points, there are so many features that can be added to the lower trims. What bed size options are there for the regular cab?
The regular cab comes with two size options: 6-foot-4 bed length and 8-foot bed length.
The standard features in the 1500 are four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, trailer-sway control, hill start assist, full-length side curtain airbags, and front-seat side airbags. There is an available fully integrated trailer-brake controller. Other advanced features available are a rearview camera and rear parking sensors.
